Where does Reiki energy come from?
Reiki energy is a subtle energy. It is different that electricity or chemical energy or other kinds of physical energy. Reiki energy comes from the Higher Power, which exists in a higher dimension than the physical world we are familiar with. The true source of Reiki energy is within us. This does not mean that we use our personal energy when we do Reiki, but that the energy is coming from a transcendental part of ourselves that is connected to an infinite supply of healing energy. One must be open to the idea of accepting healing energy given through the practitioner. Reiki can not be given to an unwilling participant. Reiki is only given to those who choose to accept it.
Is Reiki a religion?
Although Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. Practitioners are not asked to change any religious or spiritual beliefs they may have. They are free to continue believing anything they choose and are encouraged to make their own decisions concerning the nature of their religious practices.
How is a Reiki treatment given?
In a standard Reiki treatment, energy flows from the practitioners hands into the client. The client is usually laying on a massage table, but treatments can also be given while the client is seated or even standing. The client remains fully clothed. The practitioner places her/his hands on or near the client's body in a series of hand positions. These include positions around the head and shoulders, the stomach, and feet. Other, more specific positions may be used based on the client's needs. Each position is held for a certain amount of time, depending on need. Most treatments are 45-90 minutes
What does a Reiki treatment feel like?
What people experience during Reiki treatments vary greatly from person to person. However, deep feelings of relaxation are usually felt by all. In addition, may feel a wonderful glowing radiance that flows through and surrounds them. As the Reiki energy encourages one to let go of all tension, anxiety, and fear or other negative feelings a state of peace ane well-being is experienced. Some drift off to sleep. Some have a very emotional response. At the end of the treatment, one feels refreshed with a more positive, balanced outlook.
What can be treated with Reiki?
Reiki has a positive effect on all forms of illness and negative conditions. This includes minor things like head or stomach aches, bee stings, colds, flu, tension, and anxiety, as well as, more serious illness like heart disease, cancer, leukemia, etc. The side effects of regular medical treatments have also been reduced or eliminated. This includes the negative effects of chemotherapy, post operative pain, reduction in length of hospital stays, and depression. Reiki always helps. In some cases, people have experienced complete healing which have been confirmed by medical tests before and after the Reiki treatments. However, while some have experienced miracles, they cannot be guaranteed. Stress reduction with some improvement in one's physical and psychological condition is what most experience.
Does a person have to stop seeing a regular doctor or psychologist in order to receive a Reiki treatment?
No. Reiki works in conjunction with regular medical or psychological treatment. If one has a medical or psychological condition, it is recommended that one see a licensed health care professional in addition to receiving Reiki treatments. Reiki energy works in harmony with all other forms of healing, including drugs, surgery, psychological care or any other method of alternative care and will improve the results.
What is Foot Detox and how does it help?
An ionic foot detox is a therapy that uses an electronic device or apparatus to split water molecules into positive and negative ions. The ions adhere to and neutralize toxic substances, like chlorine, fluoride, and aluminum, drawing them out of the body through the feet, which are immersed in a saltwater bath. It is one of the most effective and safest treatments for removing toxins from the body. It also alkalizes the blood and tissues and helps the body re-balance and heal itself. It makes you feel more relaxed and free of harmful toxins and free radicals.
Shirodhara is said to have relaxing, soothing, and calming effects on the body and mind. Research also suggests that Shirodhara may help improve sleep quality, manage insomnia, lessen anxiety, and reduce stress.
At the start of the appointment, you’ll be asked to lie on your back and relax. Next, the practitioner will heat up the liquid, so it roughly matches your body temperature and place it in a bowl. They may hold the bowl over your head or use a stand. Either way, the liquid will gently drip through a small hole in the bottom of the bowl, landing between your eyebrows. Your eyes will be covered with a lightweight barrier for protection. The liquid used in the process varies. I use a mixture of cocoanut oil, olive oil, sesame oil, and an Ayurvedic oil blend. The whole process generally lasts anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. It might involve a massage before or after the treatment. Be sure to tell your practitioner about any allergies or skin sensitivities you have ahead of the appointment.
